The Spirituality of ’76
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the father-son duo will explore faith, freedom, and our nation’s founding. This talk coincides with the release of their middle-grade fiction novel, The Sabotage of ’76—a milestone book for both. This is Jason’s first book and Doug’s 100th.
Jason and Doug will view the Declaration through the lens of three very different people:
- Benjamin Franklin, a deist;
- Absalom Jones, a former slave and orthodox Episcopal priest;
- And Caesar Rodney, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
The Sabotage of ’76 is a time-traveling adventure in which two boys try to save the Declaration of Independence in 1776, as well as the basketball revolution led by Dr. J and the Philadelphia 76ers in 1976. After the talk, a Q&A will follow.
Doug will also briefly talk about the latest novel in his popular Kingdom Come series—Fire in the Desert, which covers the first 12 chapters of the Book of Acts. This is the third book in the series, which also covers the Book of Luke, with Thrones in the Desert and Swords in the Desert.
