Giving to Urbana Theological Seminary
Supporting the working of God through Urbana Theological Seminary Give NowDear Friends,
What an incredible privilege and opportunity! God calls us to provide training to students who will touch thousands of other people around the globe for Christ. Our mission is to provide graduate theological education which prepares people for Christian ministry and leadership, equipping them to love, know, and serve God. Student tuition pays for 25% of the cost of providing the education. The rest is covered by donors like you! Your generosity makes it possible for this strategic ministry to go forward. Donors like you also allow us to fight student debt and keep preparation for Christian leadership affordable. What a fantastic investment!
All this to say … please consider Urbana Seminary in your giving! Your gifts go a long way in impacting hearts and minds for the glory of God. When you give you partner with us to touch and train our students. To give to God’s work is in itself a ministry. And this ministry is one of the best possible investments you can make since it spreads out to touch many lives through the work of each student for years to come.
I invite you to read the pages of this Giving section of the website to answer questions you may have about reasons and ways to give. Browse through the rest of the website to gain a sense for the work that God is doing and the potential for staggering impact in the future. And then pray about what God would have you to do, how you could become a partner with Urbana Seminary in the ministry of training people.
A generous person will prosper; He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25
Thank you!

Through Stocks, Bonds, or Mutual Funds
A gift of stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares that have been held at least one year can be claimed as an income tax deduction at the full gift value. In addition, you will avoid any capital gains tax on the appreciation. Under current IRS regulations, appreciated stock is valued for gift purposes at the mean of the high and low trading prices on the date of the gift, multiplied by the number of shares given. For mutual fund shares, the gift value is the last public redemption price or bid quoted on the date of the gift.
For more information about how to make a gift of stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, please contact our Office of Development at 217-365-9005.
Planned Giving
Planned giving refers to gifts given through such instruments as including the Seminary in your estate, creating a charitable trust fund, or an insurance policy. For information and guidance on how to make a planned gift, please contact our Office of Development at 217-365-9005.
Through Endowment Funds
A gift that will keep on benefitting students into future years and generations can be made through a donation to the Seminary’s Endowment. For information on donation to the Endowment, please contact our Office of Development at 217-365-9005.
Areas to Support
Founders Fund
Gifts to our Annual Fund, the Founders Fund, are put towards yearly operating expenses. These funds help to bridge the gap between the cost of tuition and the actual cost of providing an education.
We want training to be accessible to as many as possible. Let’s keep future candidates for ministry from being saddled with debt by helping subsidize the cost of education! Together we can open doors so that men and women with hearts dedicated to Christ and His cause are able to gain the tools they need to serve Him most effectively. Your support for the Founders Fund will allow Urbana Seminary to award more financial aid, purchase library resources, provide more student services, upgrade facilities and equipment, and recruit additional faculty.
Life Happens
Pascal Study Center
Join the work of cultivating faithful Christian presence and intellectual hospitality at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign! Pascal Study Center is Urbana Theological Seminary’s outreach to the university community. PSC provides unique opportunities for “discipleship of the mind,” including reading groups, speaker events, and more. If you would like to give to support the work of PSC, you can do so here or by writing “Pascal Study Center” in the memo line of your mailed check.Library
Another meaningful way to direct a gift is to designate the funds for the adding of more resources to be used in training students for understanding God, his Word, & skills for ministry. The Seminary Library provides these resources to students and more broadly, to the community.
Endowment
Gifts to endowment keep giving over the long term. These provide a financial basis for the school’s future. Endowment funds grow through prudent investment to meet the Seminary’s needs of today and tomorrow. The annual payout generated by an endowment is used each year to support the fulfillment of the mission of the school—to build the kingdom of Christ through higher learning which equips people to love, know, and serve God.
You can give to the general Endowment fund of the Seminary, or create an endowment for a faculty chair or staff position, for a scholarship, or for a regular lectureship. Unrestricted endowments allow the Seminary to respond to new opportunities. Endowments for a specified purpose provide permanent support for the original need you decided to meet. Once you have established an endowment, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that the funds invested will continue to give again and again and benefit the students, the faculty, the church, and the world for many generations to come.
For more information about how you can contribute to or create an endowment, contact Dr. Ken Cuffey at kcuffey@urbanatheologicalseminary.org.
