Youth and Family Minister

YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTER
 

GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, ELCA

 

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Champaign, seeks applicants for the position of youth and family minister. 
The position reports to the pastor and works in cooperation with the Discipleship Committee to lead and 
coordinate faith formation efforts for children and young people Pre-K through High School.  
 
The position will be part-time (20 hours/week) with potential to grow to full-time (with benefits) should the 
candidate offer skills needed.
 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of high school equivalency and 
preferably hold a two- or four-year degree in Education, Youth Ministry or similar educational field. 
Experience in a faithbased learning atmosphere would be preferable but not required.  ELCA Lutheran 
background preferred, but not required. 
 
DESIRED COMPETENCIES/CHARACTERISTICS: Able to express and share a faith in Jesus; enthusiastic 
and caring; creative and shows willingness to innovate; excellent organizational and communication skills; 
enjoys working with children and youth; understands and uses social media effectively, able to connect to

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Will have use of an office at the church and will be expected to be in the 
building for some work hours, including Sundays; will work off-site for off-site activities; and may work from

Worship Leader

Upper Room Bible Church in Paxton Illinois is looking for a part time Worship leader beginning September 2024.   We are 
looking for an individual that can lead the musical praise and worship of our Sunday Morning service.  This will include 
guiding and directing musicians and singers that participate in our praise team to provide a worship time which honors 
the Lord.  We are looking for a leader who helps the congregation actively participate in the service.  We view worship as 
a corporate event for the whole body and not a performance by the praise team for entertainment purposes.  We wish 

to offer a blended worship service with both hymns and contemporary worship. 

Qualifications: 
Applicant is a believer in Jesus Christ, having trusted in Him and his work on the cross for forgiveness of sins and

Responsibilities:
 
Provides leadership for praise, computer, and audio team on Sunday morning, both during the practice and

lighting, design of slides, worship order and dynamics of songs, etc.  
 

Plans the worship for each week, coordinating with the pastor. 

 

Communicates with praise team weekly with music and program in a timely manner so that team  

can come prepared for Sunday morning practice and presentation.

Pastoral Candidate

New Hope Evangelical Church of Kirksville, MO is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor for our non-denominational congregation after the retirement of our founding pastor. The church has been serving Kirksville and our surrounding communities for 40+ years.

Worship A/V Intern (Savoy, IL)

 The Worship A/V Intern will provide technical support for worship services and events, assisting the Worship Director in executing dynamic and engaging worship services.  The Worship A/V Intern will work closely with the Worship Director, church staff, and volunteers.  The Worship A/V Intern is a part-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and tear down A/V tech equipment for rehearsals, services, and events.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to run soundboard, ProPresenter, and live stream for services.
  • Maintain and operate a reliable system including audio mixing, monitor mixing, lighting production, video recording and live streaming production.

Organist (Savoy, IL)

Job Summary: To serve as organist, providing a worshipful atmosphere for the traditional worship service(s). The Organist works under the supervision of the Worship Director. The Organist is a part-time position.

Education and Personal Experience:  This individual should have a minimum of five years experience playing the organ.  This person is to have a clear personal relationship with Jesus Christ and live in accordance with the Word of God. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Play the organ for the traditional worship service.  This typically includes the prelude, hymns, doxology, offertory, communion and/or postlude.  The organist is expected to play for other established services such as Good Friday and Christmas Eve. The music for each service will be planned by the Worship Director.
  • Maintain an accurate account of the needs of the organ for maintenance and inform the Worship Director.
  • Submit special instrumental music selections for the worship service bulletin in a timely fashion (currently due by noon each Thursday) to the Ministry Assistant.
  • Will perform other duties as requested by the Senior Pastor or the Worship Director.

Required Skills: 

  • Ability to play the organwith excellence in a worship setting.
  • Ability to read music and to assist in selecting appropriate music for the worship services in coordination with the Worship Director and Sanctuary Pianist.

 Description: Dewey Community Church is a small-town, rural congregation with a Sunday worship attendance of 125. Our 

members generally live and attend school in nearby Fisher. Although we live in an agricultural community, our 
members have a wide range of ages and occupations, with nearby Champaign–Urbana offering many 

opportunities for employment and recreation. 

 Our junior- and senior-high youth ministry draws 20 students from the church and community, and the 

number of young families in our congregation has been growing steadily, with our Awana program currently 
drawing 60 students. Other youth programs include Bible quizzing (grades 7–12) and a basketball ministry 

(grades 1–6; 100 players and 20 staff). 

 We belong to the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches and subscribe to its statement of faith. 

Our desired candidate is firmly rooted in his relationship with Jesus Christ, as shown by his godly character and 
practice of spiritual disciplines, and will cause that relationship to bear fruit by actively connecting with young 
people to mentor them as disciples of Jesus Christ. He will use his growing knowledge of the Bible to teach the 

Scriptures, helping youth and the congregation as a whole apply biblical truths to their life. 

 We seek a self-starter who will work with volunteer youth sponsors to plan, develop, implement, and promote
